Cem is now only a webmaster into online reputation management of his clients using his digital marketing skills under the name of www.alo.net a boutique AI powered digital marketing agency since 2013.

What is a webmaster in Cem’s opinion?

Owning a website in the digital world is very much like renting a store in a large and popular shopping mall. When you open a store in such a mall, what do you do? You pay interior designers and window display specialists to arrange your storefront and decoration. You pay the monthly rent. On top of that, you contribute to the mall’s common expenses—cleaning, security, maintenance, advertising, electricity, and water—by paying a service fee.

This is exactly where the “webmaster” comes into play. A webmaster is like the mall management and the interior designers combined for your website. In other words:

  • Storefront & Decoration (Design & Content): The webmaster arranges the design of your website and organizes the content to attract visitors, just like a well-decorated storefront draws shoppers in.

  • Security: Just as security guards in the mall protect against theft, a webmaster protects your website against cyber-attacks, ensures regular backups, and monitors vulnerabilities.

  • Maintenance & Cleaning: The webmaster fixes errors, installs updates, and keeps the site running smoothly—like the mall’s technical team maintaining elevators or cleaning staff keeping the hallways spotless.

  • Advertising & Visibility: Mall management runs large advertising campaigns, while the webmaster works on SEO and digital marketing to increase your website’s visibility on Google and social media.

  • Online Reputation Management: Imagine if shoppers in the mall constantly spread negative reviews about a store—it would hurt that store’s reputation. The same happens online: negative comments, false news, or poor ratings can damage your brand. A webmaster monitors these mentions, responds when necessary, highlights positive content, and protects your brand image across the internet. In other words, they don’t just manage your website, but also your broader digital reputation.

  • Managing Subcontractors: Just as malls work with various service providers, a webmaster may coordinate with developers, designers, or marketing agencies when additional expertise is needed.

In short, a webmaster is the central coordinator of your online presence. They manage the technical side, the design, the security, and even the reputation. If your website is critical to your business, having a webmaster is not optional—it’s essential. Just like a store cannot survive in a mall without proper management and services, a website cannot thrive in the long run without a webmaster’s expertise.
